I always knew I wanted to be a counselor and am still very passionate about it. I began counseling individuals and families in Nashville, TN then later moved to the Outer Banks where I had a private practie for 7 years. I recently moved to the Tampa, Florida area to be near my family and offer in person and video counseling to Florida residents as well as video counseling services to North Carolina Residents. I believe in making a good life, wonderful! We all deserve an hour of relaxation on a comfortable couch in a safe place to talk about ways to be a better version of ourselves. By doing so, we are able to reach our fullest potential and prevent problems from arising in the future.
I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from West Virginia University in 2004 and my Masters of Arts in Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2011. My experience includes working with children, families and adults struggling with life adjustment, obesity, divorce, relationship conflicts, learning disabilities, depression, anxiety, addiction, severe mental illness and trauma. I was the Clinical Director of an inpatient substance abuse treatment facility and have experience leading groups for those suffering from addictions and co-occurring disorders. I also have experience working with children with behavioral issues such as Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, and ADHD. I have experience testifying in court as a fact witness, working with the department of child services and assisting with a diverse population in community mental health. I was a counselor with the Youth Accountability and Counseling Services, helping children and teenagers with behavioral and emotional struggles.
I enjoy working with women and families. My trainings include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, mindfulness, play therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, teen issues and in collaborating with your doctor or other specialists to promote integrative wellness. I am a Certified Personal Training and use this in a mind-body approach. I am one of the creators of the EMBRACE program, an educational wellness program that integrates mind and body practices to increase self-esteem to empower girls and women. I also helped create Tribe OBX, a free empowerment group for women that meets monthly. I have spoken at the Outer Banks Hospital, Dare County Arts Council, Churches and other public arenas.
My certifications in personal training and weight loss are also used to empower females with their physical fitness goals within my fitness company called InnerFit. I teach fitness classes to encourage mind-body healing.
